The Procedure

Liposuction is an outpatient procedure that is performed using either local or general anesthesia. To start the procedure, Dr. Yee will make a small incision near the treatment site. A thin, hollow tube, called a cannula, is inserted into this incision where it is used to suction out fat deposits. When traditional liposuction is performed, the surgeon uses a back and forth motion with the cannula to breakdown fat deposits for removal.

This technique utilizes ultrasonic energy to gently break up and emulsify fat so that it can be removed from the body without causing significant damage to surrounding nerves, blood vessels, or connecting tissues. This system is gentler than traditional liposuction and is particularly effective on smaller treatment areas, like the arms.

After the appropriate amount of fat has been removed, Dr. Yee will close incisions and recovery will begin.
