Wrinkles &
Fine Lines
What’s changing, what’s normal, and what you don’t have to live with.
A clear guide to why lines form and every way Dr. Yee can soften them, from one of Little Rock’s longest-running cosmetic surgery practices.
Almost every patient I see describes the same moment. A line on the forehead that used to disappear now stays put. The two little creases between the brows that make you look worried when you feel fine. Softness at the corners of the mouth that wasn’t there a few years ago.
Then they usually say some version of the same thing: “I didn’t know this was something I could actually do something about.”
You can. Not every line needs treating, and the goal is never to look like someone else. But you deserve to understand what’s happening in your skin and what your real options are. This guide walks you through both.
The women who feel best about their results aren’t the ones who had the most done. They’re the ones who understood their options and felt heard.
What You Might Be Noticing
Lines don’t all behave the same way, and that matters, because the treatment that softens one kind does almost nothing for another. Here’s what patients bring up most.
Frown Lines Between the Brows
Two vertical creases that show up when you concentrate, and lately stay a little even when you don’t. They can read as tired or annoyed when you feel neither.
Horizontal Forehead Lines
The lines that appear when you raise your eyebrows. Over years of the same movement, they start to settle in and hold.
Crow’s Feet
The fan of fine lines at the outer corners of your eyes. They deepen with every smile and squint, and they’re often the first thing you notice in photos.
Smile Lines & Folds
The creases from the nose to the corners of the mouth, and the lines that pull down toward the chin. These are less about muscle and more about lost volume.
Thinning, Lined Lips
Lips that look less full than they used to, sometimes with fine vertical lines above them. A common early sign of collagen and volume loss.
Lines That No Longer Fade
The ones that used to vanish when your face relaxed and now don’t. That shift, from a moving line to a still one, changes which treatment makes sense.
Why Lines Form, and the Two Kinds That Matter
There are really two kinds of facial lines, and telling them apart is the whole game. Most faces show a mix of both, which is why the best plan usually layers a few treatments rather than relying on any one.
Made by Movement
Every time you frown, squint, or raise your brows, the same muscles contract in the same pattern, thousands of times a year. Early on the line fades when the muscle relaxes. Over time the skin above it creases into a line that stays. These are the forehead lines, the 11s, and crow’s feet, and they respond best to neurotoxins that gently relax the muscle.
About Lost Structure
From your mid-twenties you lose about 1% of your collagen a year, and make less of the hyaluronic acid that keeps skin plump. Fat pads that once sat high in the face begin to descend. The result is folds, hollowing, and lines that are there even at rest. These respond to fillers that restore volume and to treatments that rebuild your own collagen.
Every Way to Soften a Line
Dr. Yee offers the full range, from muscle-relaxing injectables to volume-restoring fillers to collagen builders. Here’s what each one does, and the kind of line it’s built for.
Neurotoxins
The treatment for lines made by movement. A few precise injections gently relax the muscles that crease your forehead, brows, and eyes, so the skin above stays smooth. About 15 minutes, no downtime, results that last three to four months and soften the lines further the longer you stay consistent.
- BOTOX Cosmetic. The original, trusted for decades.
- Dysport. Spreads slightly more, good for larger areas like the forehead.
- Letybo. The newest FDA-approved option, made for the frown lines between the brows.
- Jeuveau. Sometimes called “Newtox,” designed purely for cosmetic use.
- Daxxify. A longer-lasting option, with results that hold up to six months for some patients.
Hyaluronic-Acid Fillers
The treatment for lines caused by lost volume. Hyaluronic acid is a substance your body already makes to keep skin plump and hydrated; these gels replace what time has taken. Dr. Yee uses them to smooth folds around the nose and mouth, restore cheeks that have flattened, and refine the chin and jawline. Results are immediate and last many months.
Collagen-Stimulating Fillers
Instead of only filling a line, these prompt your body to rebuild its own collagen over time, so results look natural and develop gradually. A strong choice for overall firmness and for deeper folds, with results that can last a year or more.
- Sculptra Aesthetic. Poly-L-lactic acid that rebuilds collagen gradually across the smile lines, marionette lines, and chin.
- Radiesse. Adds instant volume and stimulates collagen, a dedicated wrinkle-fighter for the folds around the mouth and nose.
Lip Enhancement
For lips that have thinned or lost definition, or fine vertical lines forming above them, a conservative amount of lip filler restores natural shape and balance. The goal Dr. Yee works toward is your lips looking like themselves, just refreshed, never overdone.
Renuva & the Y LIFT
For more significant volume loss and hollowing, Dr. Yee offers two advanced non-surgical options.
- Renuva. An off-the-shelf treatment that uses a natural matrix to help your body restore its own fat and volume, for soft, long-lasting results.
- Y LIFT. A structural approach that lifts and refreshes from under the eyes to the upper neck in under 30 minutes, with results many patients see the very next day.
The Secret Isn’t Doing More. It’s Staying Consistent.
The results that look most natural come from small, well-timed treatments over the year, not one big appointment. A little tox every few months. A syringe of filler when you need it. That consistency is exactly what Dr. Yee’s memberships are built to make affordable, so the plan you just read about is one you actually keep.
