Types of facial implants
The first thing to sort out is which part of the eye is bothering you. During your consultation, Dr. Yee examines your lids, skin quality, and eye health and recommends the approach that fits.
CHEEK
Cheek implants
High, shapely cheekbones are a hallmark of youth. Patients born with undefined cheekbones can get real contour from an implant, whether the goal is volume or bolder shaping.
- Best for: Undefined cheekbones
- Incision: Inside the mouth, where the cheek meets gum
- Result: long-lasting
CHIN
Chin implants
Adds volume to a weak or recessive chin, bringing definition to the face and profile. In many cases it also reduces the appearance of a double chin. Several types are available for different facial structures.
- Best for: a weak or recessive chin
- Incision: under the chin
- Result: permanent
NOSE
Nose implants
Most rhinoplasty patients want a bump removed or the nose reduced, but some need volume added instead. An implant can even out an uneven nose or bring definition to a small or thin one.
- Best for: a weak or recessive chin
- Incision: under the chin
- Result: permanent
What facial implants do for you
Placed by an experienced cosmetic surgeon, facial implants look remarkably natural. Whichever type you choose, Dr. Yee’s technique keeps any visible scarring well hidden.
PROPORTION
Features that balance
More proportionate features with improved symmetry; the kind of change people notice without being able to name.
PERMANENCE
Results that stay put
Unlike dermal fillers, an implant does not fade away over time. It is placed once and it holds.
VOLUME
Filling what was hollowed
Wrinkles soften and areas that appear sunken in fill out, with a lifting effect in the tissue around the implant.
CONFIDENCE
A healthier look
A healthy, more youthful appearance, and more confidence in how you present.
Are you a candidate?
Facial implants work best when what you want is structural. If your cheeks, chin, or jawline have always felt flat or out of balance, and that’s been true since your twenties rather than something that developed with age, an implant addresses the underlying framework instead of the surface.
- Your cheeks, chin, or jawline have always looked flat or out of proportion, rather than changing with age
- You want a permanent result instead of returning for filler every year or two
- You have a weak chin that makes your profile look unbalanced
- You’re in good general health with no active infection and nothing that interferes with healing
- You don’t smoke, or you’re willing to stop before surgery and through recovery
- You understand implants change proportion, not skin quality
Implants or fillers?
The page’s own framing, drawn out: the real decision most patients are making is implant versus injectable.
- Dermal fillers
Add volume without surgery, but they fade over time and need repeating. - Facial implants
Placed once, permanent, and shaped to your structure rather than topped up.
Dr. Yee offers both and will tell you honestly which fits your goals and your timeline.

What to expect on procedure day
Where the incision goes depends on which implant you are having. Cheek implants are placed through incisions inside the mouth, where your cheek tissue meets your gums. Chin implants are inserted through an incision under the chin. Nose implants are placed during rhinoplasty. Whichever route, Dr. Yee’s technique keeps visible scarring well hidden.
Recovery timeline
Results are permanent; an implant does not fade the way a filler does.

- FIRST 24 HOURS
Swelling and tightness peak. Keep your head elevated and rest. Chin and jaw implants mean soft foods only. - DAYS 2 TO 5
Compression dressing stays on as directed. Bruising and swelling are most visible now. Chin and jaw patients stay on a soft diet; cheek implants are less restrictive but still tender. - ABOUT ONE WEEK
Most patients return to work and normal daily routines. Sutures typically come out around this point. Swelling is still noticeable but improving. - TWO WEEKS
No strenuous activity, heavy lifting, or contact sports until Dr. Yee clears you. Most visible swelling has resolved and the shape starts to settle in. - TWO TO FOUR MONTHS
Final result. Residual swelling fades gradually and the implant fully integrates with surrounding tissue. Numbness in the treated area, if present, generally resolves over this period.

Combining with other procedures
Facial implants are often placed two or more at a time, a chin and cheek implant together do more for a profile than either alone. They can also be done alongside a facelift or other facial surgery. Combining changes the total cost, and Dr. Yee will lay that out in your quote rather than after the fact.
