Once the anesthesia wears off, most patients report a mild stinging sensation, much like a sunburn. The treated sites will likely be red and slightly swollen, and some individuals may notice some itching for a few days after the procedure.

Depending on the extent of treatment, some patients may also develop blistering or oozing. Keep in mind that these side effects are temporary, and will diminish in about five to seven days.

Other side effects may include:

• Bumps
• Rash
• Hyperpigmentation
• Burning or sensitivity

Aftercare Instructions

Dr. Yee provides each patient with a comprehensive list of post-treatment guidelines. These should be followed closely to ensure a comfortable recovery. Caring for your skin is crucial during the healing time.

We recommend that you:

• Apply recommended skin care products to the treated area as directed by Dr. Yee.
• Clean the areas three to five times a day. This can be completed with a diluted vinegar solution or saline.
• Use sunscreen daily. Following surgery, it is best to use a product that is specially formulated for sensitive skin.
• Be liberal when applying moisturizer.

Please note that if you use glycolic acid products, do not resume until cleared by Dr. Yee. Typically, this can be reincorporated into your skincare regimen after about six weeks.

• Apply cold compresses to the treated areas during the first 24 hours. This should be completed in 20-minute increments as often as possible.
