What Can JUVEDERM Treat?
Approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2006, JUVÉDERM is composed of hyaluronic acid, which is naturally produced by the body and contributes to the volume, smoothness, and elasticity of the skin. Unfortunately, as the body ages, it doesn’t produce as much hyaluronic acid, which contributes to wrinkles and sagging of the skin.

Lack of Volume
Certain areas of the face, including the cheeks, chin, and lips may lack volume due to genetics or as a result of aging. In either case, dermal fillers can be used to fill out these areas and contribute to an overall improved appearance.
Scarring
If you wish to diminish the appearance of mild scarring on the face, dermal fillers can fill in small indentations. The treatment needs to be repeated to maintain results. If you have larger scars or raised scars, fillers may not be suitable.

Am I a Candidate?
To determine if you are a good candidate for treatment with JUVÉDERM or another injectable dermal filler, Dr. Yee will examine your skin, go over your medical records, and discuss your concerns to determine if this is the right option for you. You may be a good candidate for this injectable if:
- Your skin is sufficiently thick and elastic
- You are in good general health
- You are not currently pregnant or breastfeeding
Once you are determined to be a good candidate, you may be eligible to have your treatment at your initial appointment. However, note that we recommend that you stop taking aspirin or any NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) for at least a week to avoid complications.
What Types of JUVEDERM Do You Offer?
Voluma
If you feel like you are losing volume in the chin or cheeks, the Voluma™ product is formulated specifically to add volume and restore lift to these areas. This treatment is effective for men and women.
Dr. Yee was the first physician in Arkansas to administer JUVÉDERM Voluma. Due to the innovative cross-linking process that causes the gel to break down more slowly once it has been injected, JUVEDERM Voluma usually lasts much longer than other hyaluronic acid fillers. Patients can enjoy the effects up to two years.
XC
The XC product is even more highly cross-linked, making it more stable and thicker. With an enhanced filling ability to improve deeper lines, XC is ideal for nasolabial lines and marionette lines. The results of the XC product last for about a year.
Ultra XC
The Ultra XC product is ideal when patients want to add volume to the lips, or address fine lines around the mouth. The product is thicker and can achieve more dramatic results. This treatment option typically lasts for one year.
Volbella
The Volbella™ product is similar to Ultra XC in that it can add volume to the lips and address fine lines around the mouth, and results last about a year. However, Volbella offers more subtle results.

Anesthetic
When you arrive at our Little Rock, AR, office for your appointment, Dr. Yee may provide local anesthesia such as lidocaine to numb the area and keep you comfortable during treatment.

Treatment
Next, she will inject a carefully calibrated dose of JUVÉDERM® into one or more treatment areas, depending on your needs and preferences. This process typically takes less than 20 minutes to complete.

Immediate Recovery
After undergoing JUVÉDERM® treatment, you should be able to return to work or school immediately, but you should refrain from sun or heat exposure, demanding exercise, and alcohol consumption for at least one day.

Things to Watch
The most common side effects are redness, bruising, and swelling at the injection sites, but these usually dissipate within a few days.
