Sleep on Your Back after Breast Augmentation Surgery

Sleeping on your back (supine position) is widely considered to be the safest position during recovery. By avoiding putting pressure on your breasts while they heal, you can lower your risk of side effects like swollen or sore breasts or delayed healing. Proper sleeping habits can even ensure that you enjoy ideal cosmetic results.

Sleeping on your back can also prevent discomfort while sleep. Some patients find sleeping on their stomach to be uncomfortable due to the presence of implants. Sleeping on your back allows your implants to rest in their ideal position.

Keep Your Upper Body Elevated

You can gain even better healing benefits by elevating your upper body by 30 to 40 degrees while you sleep. By elevating your head and neck with pillows for the first two weeks during recovery, you can minimize chest swelling. Gravity is a significant factor when it comes to fluid buildup and swelling.

Sleeping on your back with a slightly elevated upper body also helps with mobility. The extra elevation and body orientation allow for greater ease when getting up and out of bed. • Buying a new mattress

• Sleeping in a completely dark environment
• Sleeping with your thermostat at or around 67 degrees
• Using a fan or another source of ambient noise at night
