Correct the Signs of Aging with a Mid Facelift
As we get older, one of the first areas of the face to show aging is the ‘mid face’. This is the cheek area, and covers the length of the corner of the eye to the corner of the mouth. Aging of the mid face gives us a tired and sad appearance, and loss volume of the cheeks looks hollow and sickly. At Dr. Suzanne Yee’s Cosmetic & Laser Surgery Center in Little Rock, Arkansas, Dr. Yee gives her mid facelift patients a rejuvenated result of the mid face while also improving the overall appearance of the face.
About the Mid Facelift
The mid facelift is best described as lifting of the middle face or cheek lift. This procedure is mostly performed on patients between the ages of 30 and 40 with overall good health, who are experiencing lost volume of the cheek area. There is also sagging skin between the highest point of the cheek area and the corner of the mouth. If you are experiencing sagging of the lower face and neck, a full facelift may be the best course of action. During a consultation at our office in Little Rock, Arkansas, Dr. Yee will evaluate you to determine if you will benefit from a mid facelift procedure.
Candidates for the Mid Facelift
- Patients in their 30s or 40s
- Decreased volume in cheeks
- Sagging in the area between cheek bone and corner of mouth
- No sagging of the lower face and neck
- Good overall health
During the Mid Facelift Procedure
After consulting with Dr. Yee and determining the mid facelift will yield the best results, the procedure will be performed in our surgery center located in Dr. Yee’s Little Rock office. Dr. Yee will begin the procedure by making tiny incisions in the hairline. Dr. Yee will then lift and secure the fat pad of the cheeks by using a COAPT Device, and reposition them atop the cheek bone to bring fullness back to the cheeks. After the cheek is positioned, the excess skin is pulled upwards, removed, and sutured in the hair line incision. The removal of this sagging skin helps reduce the harsh lines around the mouth, and also turns the corners of the mouth slightly upward. If you are a candidate for the mid facelift, there are several benefits related to this procedure.
Benefits
- Less invasive than a full facelift
- May be performed in conjunction with other facial rejuvenation procedures
- No visible incisions
- No hair loss and minimal numbness
- Faster recovery time
Recovering from the Mid Facelift Procedure
After a mid facelift procedure, you may experience minor pain and swelling which is considered normal with any cosmetic procedure. If only a mid facelift is performed, it is typically not necessary to have drains inserted to relieve fluid under the skin. Since the incisions are very small, there is minimal scarring associated with this procedure. The overall recovery time of a mid facelift procedure is much shorter than other facial rejuvenation surgeries.
Recovering from a Mid Facelift
- Minor pain
- No drains (mid facelift only)
- Minimal scarring
- Return to normal activity within a few days
- Overall quicker recovery time
